Meet Andy....
He is my daughter's 'dawg'. He was her birthday present for her 16th birthday. Smile Andy!Ashley and Andy have the same personality.
They have a Chihuahua personality.
Need I say more.....
Last night, at bedtime. Andy relieved himself all over Ashley's shopping bags.
He then bit Ashley very hard, and then ran around in circles
Andy, is currently in the recovery room.

I was like, "OK, we'll 2nd mortgage the house if we have to."
(blink...blink....see those angel eyes)
(Yes, he's that sweet. You want to take him to the ER with you)
It was obvious, that something was wrong.
So we took him to the Emergency Room......STAT!! (As a nurse, I love saying STAT! May I have some water? STAT!! I need my hair cut....STAT!! Anywho....)
Turns out, Andy had a hernia with an entrapped bowel. Emergency situation for sure!
(Word of advice, for you Ashley friends. Don't let her take you to the ER. If the bill is over a certain amount, she'll throw you under the bus.)
We should be able to pick him up, this evening....STAT!
The funny story of it all is this. When the vet gave us the information to make a decision about Andy's plight. Here is how the whole scene unfolded.....
I was like, "OK, we'll 2nd mortgage the house if we have to."
(blink...blink....see those angel eyes)Ashley was like, "Ya' all that is too much! I can't get my weekly manicure if we save him!" And then walked out to the car, crying.
Chad was like, "I'll sell my kidney."
So we all did what we always do. I called Honey for his input. (He had to stay home while the babe was sleeping).
(Babe sleeping)

I didn't know Ash (alias Spanky) was calling him too...while she was outside.
I didn't know that within seconds of hanging up, our oldest daughter called Honey from Dallas, asking his counsel on the situation also.

LOL!!! this story cracked me up. Because it has a good ending. Andy is okay. Ya'll will have to sell plasma to pay for Andy's operation but this will also help other people. So all in all Andy's operation was a blessing for numerous others out there. LOL!! Dad makes me laugh!
The "Honey remark" was exactly what my hubby would have said. Men are all the same! How funny! They are too manly to simply admit that they don't have the heart to put Andy down. They just use our "hearts" as an excuse to say not to.
HIL-AR-IOUS!
Oh, that was funny and at the same time NOT! Having been in the same situation a few times and it's always a no-brainer, but at the same time so expensive! Glad it all worked out!!! :) Silke
P.S. Your husband is a wise man...
Wow. I just LOVE this post! I love all the pictures, the happy ending, the drama, the humor.
Well done, my friend!
And glad Andy and the women in his life are good to go. We'll remember about who to take us to ER when we need that info.
Love this post! My favorite part of the story is Honey's remark to the whole saga.
ok so first of all I dont ever get manicures. the nail techs at work get onto me for my cuticles growing over my nails and second of all when I hear 1200$ for a nine year old dog I was only thinking of my brothers mission and college fund!!! And 1200$ is just the start he still has two other surgeries!!! I was the only one crying!!
Loved this post! I'm guessing if "honey" decided against saving Andy you probably wouldn't have blogged about it! Glad there was a happy ending and I hope he recovers well.
Awwww...poor Ashley. I feel your pain and will certainly have to make that decision pretty soon (my cat Coco is almost 21...hmmm). Glad all worked out well and everyone is somewhat ok now.
On another note...make sure you all stop over to my blog and enter to win my give-away!:-)

PS..Lisa...although it's a balmy 72* here today...there are no leaves on the trees and it looks and feels kinda weird, desolate even...nore like spring than fall....
Awww, how sweet of Honey, I would be the one saying take care of him no matter what, DH would be saying time to put him down...glad you were able to save Andy.
Hope he feels better soon.
I don't know if 'Honey' knows women in general but he sure know 'his' women. Funny story...I wouldn't want to be the bad guy either.
Wow what a guy! Love this....especially the smiling pic. Hope all goes ok!
glad andy is well. i hope ashleys shopping bags are also! that could be a bit messy!
While I LOVED the blog posting, I especially loved Ashely's defense comment - poor baby! I understand her reaction, too. And her thoughtfulness about college funds and mission trips. She's the sweetie in this situation - thoughtful and thinking she'll lose her dog. What a great post!!
I just found your blog, and what a delight....this was a cute story, and glad it ended so well...I am a dog lover too, and could just envision what would have been going on around here....
Awe...poor baby!!! I hope he gets better soon!! Nanna ran over Karson's new puppy with the golf cart last week! (I blogged about him prior to the accident) He's okay, but when it happened he couldn't move and Nanna freaked out...
